Rights, Respect, and Responsibility

A California state law known as the “California Healthy Youth Act” (CHYA) requires comprehensive sexual health education and HIV prevention education be provided to students at least once in middle school and once in high school, starting in grade 7, and may be delivered in an age-appropriate manner in lower grades. Instruction must encourage students to communicate with parents, guardians, or other trusted adults. This instruction will be provided by Oceanside Unified School District teachers. Please see the following forms for more information, including the option to not include your student in these lessons.
