Welcome to King Middle School Home of the Lions!
Welcome to King Middle School where we are working to create a safe haven for students in a college bound school culture. Working together with parents, we are confident that we can ensure both the safety of every student and each student’s academic success. Our number one priority will be to continue transforming the "culture" of our school where students are safe, challenged, supported, engaged and successful.

New District Calendar for Start of 2013-14 School Year
Beginning with the 2013-14 school year, the first day of class for all OUSD students will be Tuesday, August 20, 2013. The slightly earlier start date is a result of a new district-wide calendar unanimously approved by the OUSD Board of Education. The change was made during the board’s regularly scheduled meeting Tuesday, March 13, 2012.
Other minor changes regarding the revised calendar beginning in 2013-14 include a shorter Thanksgiving Week holiday and an end to the first semester at the winter break (December 20, 2013). The last day of instruction for students will be June 4, 2014.
The district asks that all OUSD families please take note of these changes in order to plan accordingly for the start of school in August 2013. For questions regarding the calendar change, please call 760-966-4008.

ZAP Program (Zeros Are Prohibited)
We’d like to take this opportunity to introduce a NEW and exciting support program that we are implementing on November 8th. To enable each student to be successful at King Middle School, it is critical they understand and complete their assignments. Beginning with all math classes, any day that your child’s math homework is not complete, he/she will be required to stay after school the next school day from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m. in our after school tutorial program to complete the assignment.
Each student will be receiving a copy of this letter in their math class. Click HERE for all the information in English and Spanish.
